The Gulf Shores Middle School Beginning Band is consisted of first year band students grades 6-8. Students in the Beginning Band learn the basic fundamentals of musicianship and playing an instrument. In the Beginning Band, classes are divided by instrument type: brass, woodwind and percussion.

The Beginning Band performs numerous concerts throughout the school year, including the Winter Concert in December and the Spring Concert in May. Students in the Beginning Band perform a wide variety of literature spanning from traditional beginning band repertoire, to holiday music, to famous movie themes.
